20 Piece Premium Smooth Basswood for Carving or Whittling. Wisconsin USA Unfinished Wood Blocks for Whittling and Carving

I bought this wood in September, '22 from CAN USA. I liked the variety of sizes & also that they had a 100% rating, which I always look for. It came quickly with my AMZ Prime shipping, nicely packaged & in excellent condition! I am an amateur, (as you will see by my pictures if I am successful in uploading them). I enjoy carving & have made several items with this wood. It's GREAT! It's easy to carve & very satisfying. I highly recommend it. Just a side note--As I was working on this, (my current project) I was disappointed when I noticed what I thought might be a nail embedded in the wood near the tail. How that could be in the solid block of wood, I thought? I'll probably have to adjust my plan somewhat. During my next carving session, I realized it appears to be a piece of metal. A little mystery. We shall see...

It’s always a gamble ordering wood online and things online, but I have to say this bass wood is very nice, no knots just very nice clean pieces of wood. They are great for carving. Overall I’m very pleased with the quality

The quality of the basswood is very good, yet it is about the hardest basswood I've ever used (I'm an experienced whittler and have incredible hand strength). It is generally very clear and consistent throughout.The wood hardness reminds me of pine or even poplar. A positive of this is it holds detail good! I would try it again and see if the wood hardness was more manageable.

It’s exactly as described. Well built and properly assembled. Kidding, but seriously, a good product and not crappy scrap wood. Worth the purchase.

I purchased this box and another one at the same time. Either one is a good value for your money. The word larger refers to a 2x3x4 piece of wood in the box. The others are 1x1 of various lengths. I am having fun with them.

These blocks make good practice for beginners wood carving. Soft and easy to chisel

Received the 20 piece set yesterday. I wanted to buy American basswood and the description specifically mentioned the quality and ease of carving. I used the first 2 1 x 1 pieces for simple carving. The blanks that I have used so far were surprising hard for basswood even with a sharp premium hand made knife. Rating is based on what I have used so far. They were well packaged and consistently sized but I probably won't order them again unless the rest of the wood pieces are better.

Product is excellent, but not right for the project I intended. My error, not the companies.

Just a beginner to whittling, so having an assortment of different sized wood to work with is very nice. My finished product comes out nice. Easy to work with and no knots to have to deal with.

They were small

way too dry, compared to other bass wood ive worked with, it just crumbles instead of being sliced, hard to work in fine detail because of it :(
