DIY ‘till you drop
Very easy to install the gas tank cap with lanyard. My previous one fell off yesterday afternoon when I was replacing the fuel door actuator for my gas tank.I guess 104 degrees is the max for a rubber lanyard. I had to remove the rubber plug that attaches it to the fuel door and when I took a pair of needle nose pliers; the lanyard end loop just split and fell on the ground. ( I think the entire lanyard had dry-rotted)Placing the stopper into the new lanyard hole was easy and then attaching the plug to the fuel door latch was easy also.Simply tightened the cap; closed the door; and I was ready to refill my tank.No warning lights on my instrument cluster or beeping either.DIY ‘till you drop!I don’t know what “sheerness” means for this item?!

Best product for the problem.
This fit my car (2003 E320) like a glove, and it was very useful in eliminating the most common cause of the EVAP leak that caused my Check Engine light to pop up on my dash. It even came in a Mercedes bag inside of the box, so it's clearly something that's designed for the car, and the leash fit into the nut from the old one.Though it didn't address my evap leak (I had a bit of a hole in the filler neck), it is a good idea to replace these every couple of years on a car, and it turns much more easily and feels more solid than the old one did.Yeah, it's more expensive than a generic, but it's a small price premium to have this fit exactly and work with the lens leashing system built into the car. If you're uncertain about which fuel cap to use, Stant's website has a tool to figure out which model number fits your car.

OEM Cap
As a couple of other people have mentioned, this cap is in OEM Mercedes packaging inside of a Stant box. I had the Check Engine light issue that would go away if I re-seated the old cap a couple of times after refueling, so I figured this was the fix. The replacement cap fits perfectly, although it has a slightly different Mercedes part number than the original cap that came on my car. It seems that the new one has more plastic parts and is not as heavy as the original one, but other than that, it functions fine. One tip, the retaining loop fastener just pulls off with some pressure using a screwdriver or pliers. If you are careful removing it, you can re-use the fastener with the new cap. My car is a 2008 C300 sport for reference.

Worked well as replacement
This works well for my clk320. Even though it stops after one click, this is not an oem part, just like my original part which used to click multiple times after it was locked.

Fits Like OEM...Because It Is!
Works perfectly on my 2006 e320 cdi. When you open the box there is a plastic wrapped fuel cap with a Mercedes logo and part #. It took all of 2 minutes to open the package, pry the old broken cap tether off the car with a screwdriver and pop in the new one.
