Cheap, chintzy kids bookbag that holds a gun (if you spend $100 more).
First impression...cheap, chintzy and unimpressive. The plastic buckles and loops are chintzy...think the stuff they make plastic toys out of...the overall feel (fit and finish) of the bag is that of a book bag you’d buy for your kid at CVS for back to school. At this price, that it doesn’t contain an integrated holster and a couple of mag loops is borderline criminal. My wife purchased a leather CCW bag from well armed woman that puts this to absolute shame. That the “tactical origami” is based entirely on velcro is going to mean a long term fail. This type of velcro frays and loses its grip after repeated use...that WILL happen with this. I’ll give it a chance (after dropping another $100 to get it to function as it’s supposed to by buying all that extra chintzy tactical origami crap that should have been included in the first place) and will touch base. Maybe the plastic zippers will loosen up. Maybe the cheap velcro cloth won’t fray. Maybe the chintzy plastic buckles won’t break the first time I put any weight in the bag. Or maybe I’ll wind up returning the whole cheap-ass mess with a well-deserved “I told you so.” I’ll keep you posted, but not happy right now.

Nice but underwhelming.
at First I was very disappointed in this bag. The front flap/panel is quite cumbersome, and seems like a lot of wasted space. The main compartment has a lot more room than it looks like which is cool, but the lack of pockets for accessories kinda sucks. The all over hook and loop on the inside is super cool, and probably promotes more purchases of their products to fit inside your bag. The big tag for the ccw compartment is kinda dumb, screams “what’s in here” but can be tucked into the back panel so I can live with it. Material of the bag is nice, very thick. I also really don’t like the buckle at the top of the shoulder strap, it seems weak but maybe I’m over thinking it. My conclusion after trying many bags similar is that this might be as good as it gets in this price range.

All Wrong
This bag's main compartment is too small to carry anything. Only buy this if you plan to use the CCW feature, as there is no other use for it. The strap is not ambidextrous and the design of the front flap makes opening and closing that compartment difficult. The construction and materials are top notch, and the bag looks great- but the functionality is very poorly thought out. I waited too long and can't return mine now.

Great edc bag
Overall I really liked the construction and quality of this bag. I've used a ton of different brand bags and so far this is one of the best I've seen. The design on this version however needs a bit of work in my opinion. The quick access pull on the CC pocket is a bit ridiculous in size and not subtle. Next is the lack of a compression straps. The bag even when empty has a huge side profile which I think looks awkward and tends to bump things. Next is the front flap/pocket thing. I guess if you want to carry a helmet (but really who is going to carry a helmet in their EDC? and if you're going to carry a helmet then why buy a vertx which is supposed to look non tactical). This pocket has webbing and velco which alone are kind of worthless. Overall organization and pockets are a bit limited but they give lots of fuzzy places to purchase and add on pockets and bags and holsters. But really if you go that route it's a whole new price point to consider. Don't get me wrong, this is one of the best made and highest quality bags I've considered for my EDC. The size is perfect and it doesn't look super tactical which is a huge bonus. Other than those few things it's a great bag for an EDC and a great option to consider.

Quality Bag But Vertx Delivery Times Need Improvement
Bag is well deigned and constructed, with quality stitching and zippers. The updated back panels on all the new Vertx bags are an upgrade, as they're more comfortable, and resist pet hair much better than the old panels. If you're looking for a sling to carry a laptop I would go with the commuter sling instead. My 14" Lenovo x1 Carbon ThinkPad is pretty small and barely fits. I usually just keep a tablet, a few notebooks, and a minimal amount of EDC gear in the bag, so it works for me. The grey plastic strap hinge makes me nervous. Time will tell if it will hold up or not.::I'm removing two stars because this is the second time I ordered a Vertx product on Amazon Prime and had to wait excessive delivery times, even though the page claimed the product was in stock. ::

Not perfect but good for most.
I needed a bag smaller than the commuter. And this one fit the bill. It functions well and is well made. I came across a couple oddities shown In the pictures. The buckle has a pad that always flips down and ends up being irritating. I sewed it further up along the strap to correct that. The second is the terrible loop placement I kept getting hung up on in a compartment that should have unhampered access. Not a big fix, I cut that out. The last part im having trouble getting over is why a bag with a lot less material and tech cost more than the bigger bag. Other than these three things this bag is perfect.
