I installed three of these in gopher prone areas in my front yard. There is little vegetation and I have not had prior gopher issues in ten years as a side note.Two of the three spikes are in areas where there is plenty of sun to keep the devices charged where there is daily gopher activity, primarily in the morning when the sun heats the ground.The first few days there was little effect, if any. After about a week the gophers were exiting their holes to dump dirt within two to three feet of the spikes. I pulled the spikes to check operation, they were working fine. Perhaps this is like living next door to a neighbor who plays loud music, maybe after years you move? Perhaps these will work in time. I am not confident.Sure, I can return the item but at this point I am curious as to what will happen and returns are an annoyance as well, even easy returns with Amazon. If they start working as advertised, I will update this review.Update 22 APR 2022Two new gopher holes less than 3 feet from an operating spike. Maybe 2 feet actually.Update 26 APR 2022Upgraded review from 1 star to 3 stars, and it may increase more over time.Four areas of heavy gopher activity initially. The areas I call 1 and 2 have had dramatically reduced activity for the last three days where activity was daily, morning and afternoon. Perhaps the "music" is getting them to move? Area 3 has reduced activity for the last two days. Area 4 has had increased daily activity but this area had it's spike installed three days ago. This is possibly the same fellow or lady relocating from areas 1/2 in the north. Movement appears to be southward bound. Distance from North to South is about 50 feet as a side note.So.... rating was increased one star for change in activity. Perhaps it will change again. One star increase was due to value and engineering of the device. These are a good value of 8 spikes for less than the price of many offerings of half that amount. As an engineer with a background in audio and digital formats I can probably safely say that all of these devices use the same technology. These are simple, no screw holes to seal against rain or irrigation. They are easy to activate and install even for really old folks like me who is way closer to the century mark as most anybody reading this.So... The test will continue. I will also say the seller contacted our account and offered to make us satisfied. We did not reply to the email from Amazon for privacy reasons and because a family shares the account - multiple folks. I am not the primary account holder but I am the oldest :)10 May 2022 UpdateUpdate to five stars.No gopher activity in front yard now for two plus weeks. I am pretty sure that I can say that the decrease in activity is because gopher season is ending as I now have a lot of activity in by back yard where there are no gopher sticks deployed. Bottom line, since these folks sell 8 in a set at a very good price, substantially lower than most if not all the others I researched, I still have 4 of the original 8 remaining. Like I said earlier, these are a great value as they are engineered well with simple manufacturing processes coupled with good design.Bottom line .... yup .... started with one star and ended with five. Thanks to these folks for a nice product that does do what they say it will do at a very good price.

This did what we needed it to do. It moved the gopher from our front yard where they were placed to our back yard where it died. My only complaint is the noise, when we're out doing yard work it can get a bit annoying. However no gopher ruining my plants.

Sadly the moles are digging holes right next to the devices, so they don’t seem to be effective.
