2 Stroke Boat Motor Heavy Duty 12HP Outboard Motor Boat Engine with Air Cooling System,Inflatable Fishing Boat Engine 169CC,4500-5500 r/min,Short Shaft

I purchased the 12 horsepower Hangkai 2 stroke. I previously had an eight horsepower Nissan 2-stroke and a six horsepower Mercury four stroke. The Nissan was a tohatsu and really the 10 horsepower was the same motor but just tuned differently. I have found that this 12 horsepower motor does have more power than my Nissan did. It is able to get my wife and I up on plane in our RIB which was our goal. It is also still about the same weight as my previous two motors so I can still lift it. I noticed they have made the motor look very similar to a Mercury and so wonder if it's a clone of a two-stroke Mercury. I am now nearing the end of the break-in period and have stuck to the recommendations for break in. All in all at almost the 10 hour mark I have been happy with the motor.

I bought this engine 1 year ago, May of 2022. I've seen really well reviews on YouTube, and seeks to be based off a tohatsu engine. I had a camping trip scheduled that year that I had to cancel therefor the engine remained unopened, in its box, brand new until this year May 2023. I finally opened it and did everything needed to prepare for the break in procedure (filling lower unit with sae90 marine gear oil, mixing gas 25:1 ext). It absolutely does not start. I primed it as stated in the manual and attempted multiple attempts, 40+, with the choke pulled out, over the past few days to get the engine started and it just will not turn over. I replaced spark plugs, checked the lines for clogs and it will not start. On top that everything I pull the cord to start it, the carburetor drips a few drops of gas from the bottom. Keep in mind this engine is BRAND NEW. I contacted the seller on Amazon who responded the first 2 days, then they gave me some weird email to contact for after sales support for the company in which I did and explained the situation. Well I am on day number 4 of waiting for a response and have yet to hear back. I have also contacted the seller twice again on Amazon through our chat where they responded before. Also no luck with that. I'm left in the dark. Now I'm forced to go to local marina that works on engines and pay out of pocket to see if they can get fixed and started. I highly recommend going elsewhere for a hangkai or paying the money to get a mercury or something like that.

If you follow the directions for start up and break in, you will love this brand if motor. It came with high end NGK and Bosch plugs....yep, 2 sets. I flooded the motor on initial start up, cleared the fuel, swapped plugs and it fired right up. Now half choke, 1 pull and she fires right up. It is a 1:1 knock off of a 9.8 hp Tohatsu 2-stroke. I am about 1/2 way through the 10 hr break in period, and it runs great on my 11 Saturn inflatable. If the lower hp engines are anything like this one, they are a tremendous value!!

The motor cap didn't fit tight, so when I was transporting the motor the cap fell off and was lost. Is it possible to purchase just the motor cap for this unit.Please let me know

a wonderful product, ran it for 10 hours at warranty specks. We went out in the bay was amazing Motor. Great time out on the water in the boat an motor.

Ran the motor in a barrel for about an hour, then took it out on the lake for about three hours of half or less throttle. Got it home and put it on a stand, a few hours later there was a puddle of lower unit oil under it. Looks to be leaking from inside the propeller hub somewhere. Not pleased.
