Forest Babies (Animal Babies)

The book is sturdy, and I like the different animals used for the book. I'm really disappointed in the quality of most of the pictures though. A squirrel's tale is its most recognizable feature, but you can't see the tale in the picture. The angle of the moose picture makes me feel cheated because you can't really see their bodies. Most of the other pictures are so so with not showing their full bodies or the angle. The fawn, wolf, and duck pictures aren't bad. We are teaching our 20 month old grandbaby different animals, and finding real pictures of forest animals in a board book isn't easy. If I hadn't really wanted to introduce her to real pictures of forest animals; I would have returned this book!

So many children start their education off with learning about animals. Forest Babies is a book featuring forest animals.Through breathtaking photographs, this book features a few baby animals and something special or silly about their setting.For example the baby ducks follow their mother while the lynx kitten smells flowers.While the text is there to explain the photographs, this is not your typical children's book. This book is filled with rich, descriptive words that are easy for babies to follow along.I am not sure what I like better the fact that this book gives children a close up look into many different animals, or that the text is filled with detailed words expanding their vocabulary. What ever the case may be, this book is a must for all pre-school classrooms.

We have borrowed this book twice from our local library for my son, who is just one. Now I am purchasing a copy! He LOVES looking at the pictures and "talking" to the animals! I highly recommend this as a first book for your baby.
