Hard to please critic sold on the HAAN FS20 Steam Mop
After much research on steam mops I purchased the Haan FS20-Plus 800-Watt Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray from Amazon. I placed the order on a Saturday and it arrived 4 days later. It came with the mop steamer, sanitizing tray, (2) velco cleaning pads, refill cup, 5-small packets of Haan Lime & Scale Remover, and user manuals. My entire house has hardwood floors and not the laminate kind either. I've tried using various cleaning tools (i.e. sponge mop, rag mop, cloth rag & bucket, Swiffer, etc.) but they never seemed to really clean my floors--with the exception of good ol' elbow grease with the cloth rag & bucket of water--but that took me hours. So as soon as the Hann arrived, I immediately opened it to test it out.I followed the instructions and began using it on all my floors. Unfortunately, I didn't time it the first time to see how long I was actually using it before the red "refill" light came on. But I would guess it was about the 20 minutes stated. I let it cool down and refilled it again using a new pad. This time the length of use was shorter between the red light coming on (10-12 minutes). I have a pet that often barfs up stuff and sometimes I don't find the nastiness until too late. It worked absolutely flawlessly removing baked on barf, dried shoe prints, covered/soiled food stains that have either darkened or become sticky. It takes about 5-6 seconds for the water/steam to dissipate over an area that was just mopped over. I didn't notice any streaking or dulling in color. In fact, it has been about a year since my last "all-over mopping" and my floors now have a "reflective" sheen to it.CONS:The steamer itself does seem just a tad bit flimsy (only a tad), but seems durable enough to last a few years. It also didn't "glide" as smoothly as a Swiffer or a normal mop but not much effort pushing/pulling it back and forth. The length of the cord is a bit short. My entire home is about 1000sq feet and the "areas" are small, so I had to stop and switch outlets often. It also doesn't stay secured in the top cord "holder" while in use and manages to free itself. I just ended up holding the cord to keep it clear of my cleaning path.As mentioned in a previous review, the handle does not stay vertical or at a locked position when resting or not in use.I've yet to use the carpet/sanitizing tray attachment so I will write a follow-up review in a couple months to see how the Haan stands up,I gave it 4-Stars. It's still an excellent product that does what it's designed to do despite the very minor, minor cons.

An Infomercial Item That Actually Works!
Informercials are pretty much a reason for me NOT to purchase an item... usually extremely overstated and insulting. If manufacturers would learn to produce a good product at a fair price and advertise is accordingly... they'd never want for a customer. Well... this is such a product! I have a 6x12 galley kitchen... and I've grown very tired of washing the floor by hand (a mop just pushes dirt around)!I decided to try the HAAN after watch their infomercial! I further checked Amazon for details and reviews. Actually I've been an Amazon customer since they started as the 'largest bookstore'! I rarely by any item of any significance without first checking Amazon... and most often I buy it from Amazon to save time, effort and money. The HAAN arrived... first good sign... the packaging... a high end box, with a handle! Amazon boxed it within one of their own boxes too. Each of the several pieces are individually wrapped and situated in the box to prevent damage - great job HAAN! Very easy to assemble the handle extension and handle itself. This item is very well made, not flimsy at all. Shipped with the additional sanitizing tray and two cleaning pads. A water measuring cup is also enclosed.I vacuumed the kitchen (and bathroom) floors first and then started up the HAAN (filled the tank and turned it on... takes three minutes to heat up). And even though I didn't poor ketchup, sand, wine... etc. all over the floors (infomercial)... the HAAN cleaned the floors incredible well! To a definite shine! In fact when I walked across the kitchen floor afterward... my tennis shoes were "chirping"... since the floor was so squeaky clean! The pad picked up and showed the dirt/grim that remained on the floor after vacuuming. Microfiber clothes have become very popular lately... they are great for cleaning. It took about ten minutes start to finish. I simply moved the cleaner back and forth a couple of times in each swath of floor at a slow to moderate pace.I am very pleased with this product and I do not hesitate to recommend it... especially for the type of floor cleaning that I require (no kids, no pets and most often shoes off at the front door!). I believe that as long as you have general floor cleaning needs... this item will meet or exceed them and because it is so well made... last for a number of years. It will pay for itself in time and effort, alone.$100 or so buys a lot of floor cleaning detergents... especially for a galley kitchen and full bath floor... However the easy of use and NO MORE bended-knee cleaning is definitely worth the price. Not to mention that steam cleaning obviously sanitizes as well.Go for it!
