Pair of JJ ECC81 / 12AT7 Preamp Vacuum Tube

I purchased a pair of JJ's to replace my soft ARS tube in my Aphex Channel master preamp / channel strip. Once installed after 2 hours I could smell something burning. The unit went into standby mode on it's own and then came out of standby with full LED's of input/output and the clip light was also solid red, all this when there was no signal applied. An engineer mentioned that the spiral wrapped filaments on cheap JJ tubes can raise hell with some devices, and this is why marshall will not use these in their amps, they can make some components go up in smoke.

Purchased these to swap-out with 12AX7s in my mid-90's Fender Pro Junior which was driving too hard at lower volumes.Worked perfectly.

ECC81 works very well. Good quality tube.
