So far so good
We opted to fill with sand after reading others review that water may leak out. Used 4, 50lb bags of play sand and were able to fit just about all 200lbs. It did take about an hour to get them filled while using a funnel, but was relatively easy. The weight does seem to be enough to hold up our almost 10ft umbrella.

Very good
It does the job but, even though it says it can be filled with sand that would be a challenge. The opening is way too small. I didn’t even bother to try.Filling it with water worked well but that means I will have to empty it out every winter. Not a big problem

Works well, a quarter was damaged - good customer support
The product works well. We filled with water. One of the segments was leaking so I contacted the company and they sent me out a replacement segment quite quickly. Good customer service. Good product even if a bit expensive.

Leaks!!
Every one of these things leaks, all 4 pieces. They come with little rubber seals that fit in the tops of the lids, but they do not stop water from leaking out. The screw on caps are made in a way so that they can't tighten all the way down. If you twist them to tighten them down, they just pop back loose again. I've fiddled and fiddled with them...I've tried tightening as much as I can, right before they pop back loose again. I've tried tightening down just barely. I've tried everything in between. No matter what I do, they leak. These things were not designed well, at all. I want to use water because it's free and because it's heavier than sand...and because I'm fairly certain attempting to fill these things up with sand would be a total PITA. I guess I'm gonna gave to permanently seal them with locktite or some other kind of sealant. I'm going try mixing a little antifreeze with the water, so that I don't have to worry about it freezing in the winter. Hopefully, that does the trick. Also, I thought the metal brackets that go across the legs of the umbrella base and fit into these pieces would be way more secure than they actually are. They literally just lay across the legs and very loosely sit in the holes on these pieces. If you barely tap them with your foot, it knocks them out of place. I just assumed that they would fit tight across the legs to help keep everything held together, in place, nice and tight...no such luck.

Strong chemical smell
While these weights have held up for at least a couple weeks and seem durable, I cannot shake the memory of the nauseating chemical smell they gave off while opening and filling them. While they may be made of HDPE plastic which is apparently safe, I would question the “UV and weather resistant coating”. The smell was obnoxious and screamed cancer. Buy at your own risk, but I am extremely skeptical as this product is made in China. I question the research and regulations of products like these.
